But what do we mean when we say bespoke?
Bespoke to us means working with clients to create a unique wardrobe arrangement that meets their tastes and preferences and that also works perfectly within the space of their home.
Assessing the space
The process usually starts with a conversation – we will visit the client and assess the space they have. Many will have an initial idea of what they want and will show us images they have found on the Houzz or Pinterest websites.
We will get a feel for the type of features they want – do they want all their shirts on display, for example, or a rack with lighting that shows off their shoes? What arrangement would they prefer when it comes to mirrors? It’s also important to know whether there is a set budget to work to or whether the client is prepared to pay whatever it takes to get the aesthetic they are looking for.
Over 20 years’ experience
Generally, we don’t ask clients to sketch out a plan of what they want. This is because we have enough experience of the kind of things that will work best within any given space. We can walk into room and almost instinctively know where the best place is for a vanity unit or a wardrobe, or what arrangement will work best for lighting. We bring over 20 years’ experience of working on these types of jobs and in that time we have come across almost every possible scenario.
Typically, when we show a client a plan they are always happy and almost always pleasantly surprised with the design ideas we have put forward. If we haven’t quite hit the mark, then at this point we can make any changes that are required. Because we are cabinet makers we can make any configuration to fit a space and the craftsmanship is guaranteed to be of the highest level.
Wide choice of facades and handles
One of the key decisions a client has to make is the type of façade they want on the wardrobe. For example, we have 15 different styles of door on display at our show room and often clients will come in and spend some time looking through the various options. There is also a wide choice of handles that clients can chose to dress a wardrobe with. We work with a number of handle makers and also make our own range of wooden handles. Choosing the right handle can really make a big difference to the overall feel and elegance of a wardrobe.
Obviously, the final choice on all these elements is down to the client but we tend to encourage them to be somewhat adventurous. If you are having a bespoke wardrobe made, then it’s a chance to have something made that stands out. We feel the best jobs we have worked on are when the client is courageous in their choice or design and colour.
